Hi,

I picked up these two 9mms last week; HK P2000 V3 and CZ Shadow 2 SAO. Thanks TunnelRat for the helpful convo about the P2000.

HK P2000 V3 (sa/da deco*cker):

I plan to put the pictured Greyguns short reset trigger kit in and a Wolff 10lbs main hammer spring in the V3 P2000 this weekend. Typical HK, the reset is extremely long. The double action is stiff and stacks at the end. Hopefully this will clean some up. Went in knowing this wasn't a "great" trigger. It's not. But looking forward to see improvement.

The mag release area is a bit sharp and wedged. Still considering the HK45 mag release upgrade. Here, the Walther paddle is just better in that it's rounded and long.

An observation, in person, the older kinda graphics on the grip are far less apparent than any picture I've seen. It's just a trick of the eye. The "P2000" blends into the grip very well.

I have some 17rnd conversion kits ordered for the factory 13rnd mages, 1 17rnd mag, and an xgrip.

Otherwise, the grip did turn out to be perfect size where the P30/VP9 is just slightly too long. I do like the lack of front serration for looks. For me, I like the P2000 better than the P30 I wrote about a bit ago.

Shadow 2 SAO:

Second Shadow 2. I admit not my favorite. I do not like how the grip textured areas are protrusions from grip instead of part of that grip. I think, for my hand, it does make the bottom of my palm arch too far out and leaves the meat of my thumb contacting less of the tang area.

Trigger comes with travel screw.

Trigger also has some vertical texture on it. Huge improvement. I said in my Shadow 2 thread that the first time I picked it up my finger slipped off the smooth narrow trigger in double action.

Looking for wood grips just for fun.

That's it.

I have owned a couple of P2000s over the years. Great HK pistol.

Nice! I really like the P2000. Wish my LEM was a DA/SA but it’s on the list to get a 9mm DA/SA in the near future.

Talon Pro tape on my P2000 and HK45c feel perfect for my hands.

It's been growing on me for sure.

It's got areas of interest that I don't like, but really, it's surely the price that has kept this guy from being the G19 of the world New HK P2000 and Shadow 2 SAO (4)

Might anyone have a good link for changing the sights? I need 100% most basic information possible as I've never done it.

Also, I keep reading that the OR VP9 rear and P2000 have the same sight. Anyone know if this is true.

The HKPro forum doesn't seem to have much on this.

Thanks!

Drift them out right to left looking from the rear of the slide. Drift the new in left to right.

I assume a pusher is preferred?

Dawson lists it as easy with a tool they provide which I assume is a brass punch that will end up with me marring the living heck out of it without a vice of some sort?

Thank you

Also,

In the word that we now live in where cheap knock offs actually do function, anything wrong with a $16 pusher that mimics a $200 pusher?

Say something like this?

Their punches are I believe aluminum based on the color and weight. If you have a good vise you can probably use those punches. Use say painters tape both on the pusher and the slide to prevent marring. Dawson has an instructional video on YouTube.

I generally use a pusher. Years ago I bought one made by Wheeler Engineering for I think $130. It generally works okay, but with tapered slides like the P2000 it isn’t great to be honest. The best are the MGW pushers, I had one specific for HK models years ago, but sold it when I got rid of most of my HKs at the time.

I have used ones like your eBay link before. I think I got mine off of Amazon, similar design. They’re not great, but they work okay (again tapered slides are problematic at times). If it doesn’t work as well as you hope then it’s not like you’re out much money.

Thank you.

Super stupid question. If the $20 or cheaper one does work, it's going to be easier and better than going at it with a brass punch and hammer, all being equal?

Might have dead ended.

The P2000 does not have an adjustable rear option.

The VP9 OR rear is the same as the P2000. However, no one makes an adjustable rear for the VP9 OR.

Lame.

Just got a response back from Dawson that they don't have plans to make an adjustable for the VP9 OR.

It may be better, depending on how well it works. Nothing is guaranteed.

I use the non adjustable Dawson rear without issues. It is still drift adjustable. If you plan to be loading your own ammunition and loading odd bullet weights or very different powder charges or buying ammunition with the same then I can see the appeal. For practical pistol shooting based on defensive use (a P2000 isn’t a match target pistol) I don’t see an issue.

thumbs up to that.

Might you know if the front Dawson and rear factory are the same height?

I don't mind darkening the white dots on the factory rear since I can't gain fiber rear.

Thank you!

I don’t know. I would see if you can find the factor front height listed somewhere and compare to what Dawson says. I have calipers and if I get a chance I can measure the two, probably not until the weekend.

Thank you! If you get bored enough, I would greatly appreciate the front sight post measured. If not, I totally get it.

Dawson is imperial and of course HK is metric. HK measures whole sight height at 6.3mm, which isn't how anyone measures a sight height. I found reference of sight post at 3.76mm or .148".

The P30/VP9 front sight appears to be the same as the P2000 cut. So now I have .140" and .155" P30 as an option to go with the stock rear, assuming that .148" stock front post is correct. I have read the dot is higher on the Dawson. So if everything is lining up as correct, I'll try the .140 P30 front sight.
