He was predeceased by George Bennett Livingston LEXINGTON George Bennett Livingston, 77, died Thursday, December 21, 2017. He was the son of the late Clarence and Pau- line Reed Livingston. Born and raised on a farm in North, Ben was passion- ate about all kinds of mu- sic from an early age and spent most of his life in- volved with musicians. He sang bass in the choir of the First Baptist Church in his hometown and was al- so a radio DJ. Known as a man who could fix any- thing, he spent his life do- ing just that in a variety of careers.

From joining a cir- cus to working as a roadie, the skills he learned and inherited from his father were always on display. Having spent the last four decades of his life as a recovering alcoholic, he credited his faith in God and AA for saving his life which he enjoyed to the fullest. He would volunteer to help anyone at any time and was frequently seen working at the various fes- tivals and parades in South Carolina. He was a two-time president of the Lexington Club, hav- ing been presented with the Melvin Jones Award (their highest honor) for his long and distinguished service. He also enjoyed his service as a member of the Lake Murray Power Squadron.

He continues to help others even in death, having arranged to be a part of the Gift of Body pro- gram at the USC School of Medicine. He is survived by his sis- ter Betty Rose Livingston Smith (Frank) of Irmo, his brother Byron Livingston (Judy) of Swansea, nieces and nephews Francis Smith (Ginny) of Lexington and his children Sara and Sam, Cole Smith (Cindy) of Clemson and his daugh- ters Katie, Dani and Claire, Allison Livingston of Swansea, Jennifer Moore Privette (Cliff) of Swansea and her children Bradley and Kimberly An- derson, and Jason Moore of Swansea and his son Jace as well as two aunts, Mrs. Nellie Lu Reed of North and Mrs. Ethel Fogle of St. Matthews.

Ben de- lighted in the company of his many cousins and friends, whom he loved dearly. Ben was affected by Alz- Disease for the last ten years of his life. His family will always be grateful to the staff of HarborChase of Columbia. Ben was happy there for more than four years. He was loved by wonderful caregivers and every sin- gle member of the staff.

Al- so to David Miller of Se- nior Health Associates, who looked after his physi- cal and mental health with such compassion, and to Tidewater Hospice for their hands-on assistance and loving care of Ben these last months of his life. Their expert guidance through the progression of his disease and support of his family has been in- valuable.
