Missoula is high up in Montana's Northern Rockies where three rivers meet, with seven wilderness areas around it. Missoula is a place where people come to find great outdoor adventures. With 60,000 acres of wilderness, you can kayak, hike, ski, fish, ride, raft and tube. Missoula is a rich art and culture center, with a number of great museums.

"If I have learned anything from my professors here on the Missoula campus it would be first and foremost that nursing does not come from skills alone, but from being a compassionate and open minded human being. I am a traditional BSN student about to enter my last year in Missoula. Transitioning to a new community was challenging, but this group of professors and peers made me feel at home with love and support, truly encompassing what it means to be a Bobcat Nurse. Missoula's two hospitals offer an array of opportunities to help you grow as a knowledgeable nurse.I found not only mentors within the MSU faculty, but also the nurses in town who helped me learn with hands on application and easy dialogue, all whom I could feel were truly invested in my learning. Missoula is surrounded by gorgeous mountains full of outdoor recreating. I have truly enjoyed my time here and am excited to continue on this journey to become a graduated Bobcat Nurse."

| It is very difficult to survive without an automobile given the variety of clinical sites. The public bus system, Mountain Line, operates from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., which isn't satisfactory for shift work. Due to cold weather bicycles are not an option. The UM and Mountain Line bus systems are both free of charge. Automobiles are required for Community Health Nursing and community-based experiences in other courses. Parking permits on campus are available for approximately $124.50 per half-year and can be purchased from the UM Police Department, 406-243-6132. You must purchase your permit in-person and identify yourself as an MSU College of Nursing Student. | ASUM Day Care, 406-243-2542,provides onsite child care, but slots are limited andit's first come first serve. | Average rent runs from $950.00 and up in the Missoula area. It is recommended that you arrive in Missoula early and be prepared to pay first, last, and a damage deposit for rentals. Bulletin boards at the University Center on the University of Montana campus have ads for roommates. Residence halls on the University of Montana campus may have space available if you apply early. There is a $25.00 non-refudable application fee. *You will need a 790 number to apply, please contact Louis Johnston, Administrative Assistant to get a 790 number.
